Updated Nov 1, 2010 at 1:15 AM Norwich, Conn.New England Glass & Mirror Co. is moving from its home of 40 years on Central Avenue in Norwich to the Stanley Israelite Norwich Business Park effective Nov. 8. The business, founded in 1930, is moving to a larger 15,000-square-foot space at 31 Connecticut Ave., co-owner Carl Reiser said Monday. The company has been operating from a 9,500-square-foot space in a building known as the Old Trolley Barn at 356 Central Ave. since 1970. Reiser and his brother-in-law, Tom Haling, have owned the business since 1988.
Reiser credits Norwich Community Development Corp., which oversees the business park, with working hard to keep New England Glass in Norwich. “We see it as a great, new opportunity for us,” said Reiser, adding that he hopes to add to his workforce of 15 once the economy starts to improve in a more steady fashion.
The company’s phone number of (860) 887-1649 will remain the same, Reiser said.
